He says he does not believe that my blood work concludes that I officially have Lyme Disease. He wants to run a new blood test the end of December. My question is, since I'm on Doxycycline now, and will have just been on it for an entire month, won't that skew the test?
He rattled off information about the IgG being 'later' and I only have 1 band, and how my IgM has 2 bands, and that signifies 'early' - but that the criteria is 5 bands have to be positive in order for a doc to say someone tested positive for Lyme. And my CBC is all negative (AWESOME) I would like to REALLY understand the IgM and IgG . . . For them, it's like a waitress using the word ramekin - nobody knows what that is but the waitress!
I found a link!!
http://www.differencebetween.net/science/health/difference-between-igm-and-igg/
Summary:
1. IgM is the immediate antibody that is produced once a human body is exposed to a bacteria, virus or a toxin
2. IgG is found throughout the body, mainly in most of the bodily fluids, while IgM is found mainly in the blood and lymphatic fluids.
3. IgM is larger in size compared to IgG
4. IgM is temporary and disappears after a few weeks. It is then replaced by IgG.
So, If I understand this correctly. . . since I have 2 bands of IgM, I have a recent exposure to something, (may or may not be Lyme)
And, my 1 band of IgG says that I had a previous exposure to something . . ?
If not Lyme. . . what is it?
I'm taking this one day at a time folks. . . I REALLY trust Dr. Miles and I know I'll be in good hands. Let's just hope and pray that he isn't one of those doctors who just doesn't want to treat it long term because of the politics involved.
I PRAY I do NOT have Lyme Disease, but then, my question is, if not Lyme, what do I have? Certainly I have something that is not right with my body!
